Prosthetics is a branch of dentistry that deals with the restoration or improvement of the existing tooth system. This is of great importance due to the aesthetic value, especially of the anterior segment, but also due to the restoration of lost functions, such as chewing or speaking. Currently, prosthetics is able to offer very aesthetic and comfortable solutions, such as ceramic crowns, porcelain bridges, skeletal dentures and implants.
Porcelain veneers are thin porcelain overlays that are stuck to the front surfaces of the teeth. Veneers allow you to eliminate all the aesthetic imperfections of the teeth regarding the color, shape or position of the tooth in the arch. We use them to cover any discoloration, stains, and even change the color to whiter. Veneer is also an alternative solution to orthodontics if we want to close the gaps between the teeth (most often it concerns the front) or when it has significant cavities on the front surface.
All-ceramic crown / all-ceramic bridge
ceramic crowns Łódź
An all-ceramic crown is a solution that replaces your own tooth in the event of damage or insufficient aesthetics – it provides a perfect imitation of a natural tooth, indistinguishable from your own teeth. For these reasons, all-ceramic crowns are undoubtedly the best solution, especially for the aesthetic reconstruction of anterior teeth. Ceramic crowns Łódź, which we make at Ortorad Clinic, very often belong to this group of prosthetic restorations.
Porcelain crown and porcelain bridges on metal covered with aesthetics
The inner part of such a crown is made of dental steel prepared individually for a given tooth. Porcelain is fired on such a core in a prosthetic laboratory. The metal in such a crown is invisible because it is covered with a layer of porcelain. Porcelain crowns on metal are used especially in the posterior parts, on premolars and molars. We make them as part of the offer: ceramic crowns Lodz.
If the tooth is damaged to such an extent that it does not even allow a direct prosthetic crown to be made, the so-called crown-root inlay (colloquially called a stick) should be placed in the root. The crown-root inlay has a root part glued in the root canal of the tooth and a crown part that protrudes into the oral cavity and recreates the shape of the tooth needed to make a prosthetic crown.
Acrylic dentures and frame dentures
An acrylic denture is a prosthetic solution, used when there are no more teeth. The denture is a removable solution – it can be removed – it is not a comfortable solution, but in many cases you cannot use another one. Dentures can also be made of other materials, which improves their use or aesthetics – they supplement from a few to a dozen or so missing teeth.
Frame dentures are the most comfortable solution among removable prosthetic restorations. They are made of a metal skeleton so that they are much thinner and smaller – they cover the palate very little – at the upper denture. They are also characterized by better maintenance – they do not fall off, because they are attached to clasps, they do not press on the gums and palate.
